My Favorite Kind of Travelling
I love travelling to the places where historical events happened.
I have been to Dallas and stood on the road where they marked an “X” where John・F・Kennedy was assassinated.
I have been to Manhattan and stood in front of the Dakota Apartments where John Lennon died.
I have been to a mountain pass in the Alps which Hannibal went through with his army and elephants.
According to the researcher of the ancient Roman History there are several passes that Hannibal went through, I have been to two of them and a few are left for me to visit.
Why do I want to travel to such places?
I guess the answer may be curiosity.
I want to get the answer to something I have wondered about since I was a child.
Standing at such places, I imagine what John・F・Kennedy and John Lennon and Hannibal thought about when they were at the places, and also why and how did the events happen?
While I imagine those people and the events, I feel something strange like being part of a continuity of time and the expanse of the cosmos.
At the same time, I additionally feel that although I am a very small part of the human race I certainly also exist as a member of the human race, just like those famous people. It gives me a kind of courage to live my life.
Therefore, I keep travelling to the historically famous places where I haven’t been to, such as the remaining passes in the Alps.
There I would like to identify myself as the member of human race along with the people in history.
